Your Beginning
Every Seeker Inherits Something
No one begins their story from nothing. Every Seeker carries an inheritance shaped by generations of history, adaptation, and change. Some bear traces of elemental power. Others display signs of ancient transformations, ancestral influence, technological augmentation, or lineages that have endured through centuries of upheaval.
These inheritances shape how a Seeker first experiences the world. They offer unique strengths, perspectives, and gifts carried forward from those who came before. Yet inheritance is not identity.
“A Seeker’s origins explain where they came from. Their choices determine who they become.”
Your Path
Power Takes Many Forms
Before they become Seekers, people spend years learning how to survive, contribute, and find their place within the world.
Some become negotiators capable of ending conflicts before violence begins. Others learn to navigate dangerous frontiers, recover lost resources, defend vulnerable communities, uncover hidden truths, or create wonders that improve the lives of others.
A Seeker’s path reflects the experiences that shaped them long before adventure called their name. It reveals how they solve problems, what others depend upon them for, and the strengths they carry into uncertain situations.
No two Seekers walk the same path.
“Your origins explain what you inherited. Your path reveals what you chose to become.”
Your Nature
The Choice that Defines You
“Tendencies go beyond what is here, just as the nature of a person remains hard to absolutely define.“
Power alone does not define a person. Every Seeker approaches the world differently. Some lead through compassion. Others through determination, curiosity, conviction, caution, or trust.
These tendencies influence how people respond to hardship, build relationships, and continue moving forward when hope begins to falter.
In Hiraeth, identity is shaped as much by the choices people make as the powers they wield. What keeps a person going often matters more than what makes them strong.
“People are remembered for their choices long after their victories fade.”
The Power of Hiraeth
The Power That Changed Everything
Grim Light transformed civilization. It powers machines, fuels discovery, strengthens communities, enables thaumaturgy, charges weapons and armor, animates inventions, and allows people to accomplish feats once thought impossible. Its influence can be found everywhere, from simple tools and everyday conveniences to wonders capable of reshaping entire regions.
Some use Grim Light to power weapons, vehicles, infrastructure, and machines that make life easier. Others channel it through symbols, rituals, technology, memory, transformation, and countless traditions developed over generations.
Most people encounter Grim Light in small ways. History remembers what happened when people learned to wield it on a much larger scale.

Shape Reality
Aethernauts
At its smallest, Grim Light can illuminate dark places, channel elemental force, shape symbols into power, and make the impossible briefly touch the world.
At greater scales, Aethernauts can bend environments, summon storms, open impossible paths, and manipulate forces most people barely understand.
Legends speak of Aethernauts who called meteors from the heavens, split the sky with ritual force, and reshaped entire battlefields through acts remembered as myth.

Command Creation
Technocrats
At its smallest, Grim Light can charge tools, power vehicles, enhance weapons, stabilize machines, and keep fragile infrastructure alive.
At greater scales, Technocrats can animate constructs, speak through code, command industrial systems, and build machines capable of transforming cities.
Legends tell of Technocrats who piloted colossal war machines, created mechanical armies, and built wonders so vast they blurred the line between civilization and weapon.

Defy Mortality
Revenites
At its smallest, Grim Light can preserve memory, strengthen bloodlines, call upon ancestral guidance, and keep the presence of the dead close to the living.
At greater scales, Revenites can conjure spirits, weaponize blood, reanimate bodies, bind souls to purpose, and manipulate the continuity of organic life through memory.
Legends tell of Revenites who raised entire battlefields of corpses, bones, and spirits, preserved rulers beyond death, and bent the passage of life itself.

Become the Beast
Mythoterics
At its smallest, Grim Light can deepen bonds with animals, sharpen instincts, strengthen the body, and help people adapt to hostile environments.
At greater scales, Mythoterics can command beasts, take on monstrous traits, transform their bodies, and unleash primal power that rivals the creatures others fear.
Legends speak of Mythoterics who became towering living disasters, colossal beasts whose battles shattered walls, changed landscapes, and forced entire armies to retreat.

Endure Without Excess
Erathans
At its smallest, Grim Light can enrich crops, ease minor wounds, protect homes, preserve tools, and support daily life without overwhelming it.
At greater scales, Erathans are remembered less for wielding power and more for surviving without surrendering to it. Their strength comes through restraint, cooperation, preparation, and communities built to endure when greater powers fail.
Legends tell of Erathan settlements that survived catastrophes others could not, not because they commanded the greatest miracles, but because they knew when power was no longer worth the cost.
Your Story
Becoming a Seeker
Every Seeker begins with an inheritance. They choose a path. They develop habits, convictions, and ways of facing adversity. Over time, those choices become something larger than identity. They become reputation.
Some Seekers are remembered for their strength. Others for their insight, determination, grace, or ability to inspire those around them.
When people tell stories about a Seeker, they rarely begin with where that person came from. They remember how that person faced the world.
