The Light Omens Quickstart Guide has become my main focus behind the scenes. One of the most common questions I’ve received since launching the Light Omens website has been: “When will people be able to play it?”
That question has been on my mind a lot lately, and it has shaped the work I am doing right now.
Current Focus: The Light Omens Quickstart Guide
Right now, most of my development time is going toward creating the Light Omens Quickstart Guide. The goal of the Quickstart is straightforward: give people everything they need to experience the world of Hiraeth without waiting for the full Corebook.
That means introducing the setting, explaining the core mechanics, providing pre-generated characters, and including an adventure that showcases what makes Light Omens different from other tabletop RPGs.
Designing a game is one thing. Teaching people how to play it is another challenge entirely.
The Quickstart is forcing me to look at every system, every explanation, and every piece of terminology through the eyes of a brand-new player. It’s a lot of work, but it’s also helping me refine the game in ways I couldn’t have anticipated.
My hope is that the Quickstart becomes the first real doorway into the world of Light Omens. My immediate goal is to release the first version of the Light Omens Quickstart Guide and gather feedback from players. All things in my favor, the first version will be available on the second of July (07/02/2026).
Looking Ahead: The Return of Omen Chronicles
While the Quickstart remains my primary focus, I’m also hoping to return to a project that has been sitting patiently in the background for some time: Omen Chronicles.
Omen Chronicles is a series of short stories set throughout Hiraeth.
Some stories will focus on Seekers venturing beyond the safety of their communities. Others will explore everyday life, local legends, historical events, faction conflicts, and the countless people trying to build a future in a world that survived its endings.
One of the things I love most about tabletop RPGs is that worlds feel alive when they contain stories beyond the player characters. Omen Chronicles gives me a chance to explore those stories and share corners of the setting that might never appear in a rulebook.
I also plan to record audio versions of these stories so people can listen to them as narrated fiction. Whether you prefer reading or listening, I want Omen Chronicles to become another way to experience the world of Light Omens.
Building the Future One Step at a Time
Light Omens has always been more than a game system to me. It’s a world built around questions of identity, inheritance, memory, hope, and the communities we create together.
The website launch was an important milestone, but it was never the finish line. The Quickstart Guide, Omen Chronicles, the Corebook, future adventures, and everything that comes after are all pieces of a much larger vision.
This stage of development feels important because it turns Light Omens from something people can read about into something they can sit down and try. That is a big shift. It means making the rules clearer, the setting easier to enter, and the first adventure strong enough to show the heart of the game.
For now, my focus remains on getting the Quickstart into people’s hands. After that, I can’t wait to start sharing more stories from Hiraeth.
What Comes Next
Over the coming weeks, I’ll be focusing on refining the Quickstart Guide’s presentation, adventure structure, and onboarding experience for new players. One of my goals is making sure that someone can pick up the Quickstart with little or no prior experience and quickly understand what makes Light Omens unique.
As development continues, I’ll be sharing updates on progress, artwork, playtesting, and future plans for the setting. The Quickstart is only the beginning, but it’s an important step toward getting Light Omens into the hands of players and communities around the world.
Thank you for continuing to follow the journey.
More soon.
